The Faculty of Sex Therapy at the Chartered Institute of Counseling in Nigeria (CICN) is dedicated to training professionals who can competently address the often-overlooked intersection of sexual health, emotional intimacy, and psychological well-being. We prepare counselors and therapists to work with individuals and couples facing challenges in sexual functioning, desire, identity, and relationship satisfaction.
Our curriculum integrates clinical sexology, psychosexual therapy techniques, trauma-informed practice, and cultural competence, equipping students with both the scientific knowledge and therapeutic skill set needed for effective intervention. Training combines academic rigor with supervised clinical practice, ensuring graduates can approach sensitive topics with confidence, empathy, and professionalism.
Led by a multidisciplinary faculty of certified sex therapists, psychologists, and medical consultants, the program emphasizes evidence-based approaches while respecting cultural contexts and individual values. Students learn to help clients navigate issues such as sexual dysfunction, intimacy barriers, sexual trauma recovery, orientation and identity concerns, and the enhancement of sexual wellness within committed relationships.
